We begin with an in-person design consultation to get to know your family and discuss the end goal for your portraits. Together, we'll create a vision for your session, including location, clothing, and the types of images you hope to capture. We'll also guide you through pricing and heirloom artwork options while beginning to envision how your finished portraits can be enjoyed throughout your home.

Coordinating outfits? Watching the weather? Wondering what to bring for the kids? Anything and everything that comes up between your design consultation and portrait session, we're here to work through together. We'll answer your questions and take care of the details so you can arrive feeling prepared and excited for your session.

Your only job is to show up, relax, and enjoy being together. We know family portraits can sometimes feel stressful, especially with little ones, reluctant family members, or unpredictable moments. Don’t worry, we’ve seen it all! We’ll guide you throughout the session, keeping things relaxed and fun while capturing the genuine expressions, connections, and personalities that make your family yours.

Approximately one to two weeks after your portrait session, you’ll return to the studio to see your portraits for the first time. Together, we’ll choose your favorite images and design the pieces that best fit your family and home, from custom wall art and framing to heirloom albums and coffee table pieces. We’ll help you bring it all together, creating artwork that feels at home in your space and meaningful to your family.

Whether your portraits are hand delivered or thoughtfully packaged, every piece is carefully inspected to ensure it meets our quality standards. Once your portraits are on the wall, tucked into an album, or displayed on your coffee table, all that's left to do is enjoy them for years to come.

We recommend choosing a color palette that works well with your family, portrait location, and ultimately where you plan to display your portraits. Coordinate your outfits without matching exactly, using complementary colors, textures, and styles that allow everyone to look and feel like themselves. Most importantly, choose clothing that is comfortable and makes you feel confident. We’ll also discuss clothing during your Design Consultation, so you don’t have to figure it all out on your own!

Beautiful light is one of the most important parts of creating beautiful portraits. For outdoor sessions, morning and late afternoon typically give us the most flattering light, while midday sun can be much harsher. But lighting isn’t the only consideration, especially with little ones! We’ll also consider naps, meals, your children’s routines, the season, and your chosen location when planning your session. During your Design Consultation, we’ll help choose a time that works best for both your family and the portraits we’re creating.

Yes! We believe we live in both a digital and tangible world, so you need copies of both. Your purchased portraits include digital copies for sharing and enjoying, but we also believe your favorite family photographs deserve to live beyond a screen. We'll help you create beautiful, heirloom-quality prints, wall art, albums, and other pieces to enjoy throughout your home for years to come.

Absolutely! Every portrait you order is carefully edited and fully retouched by Jean herself. We’ll take care of temporary blemishes, scratches, bruises, and other little distractions while enhancing the color and overall beauty of your portrait. Our goal is never to make you look like someone else. We want you to look like you, just your very best! All of our editing is done in-house with the same care and attention we put into creating your portraits.

Honestly, they might not, and that’s okay! Kids are kids, and we never expect them to sit perfectly still and smile at the camera for an entire portrait session. We use movement, games, playful prompts, and plenty of patience to keep the experience fun and relaxed. Sometimes the moments you weren’t planning for end up becoming your favorite portraits.
