We begin with an in-person design consultation to get to know your growing family and discuss the end goal for your portraits. Together, we’ll discuss baby’s arrival date and ideas for location, clothing, and the types of images you hope to capture. We’ll also guide you through pricing and heirloom artwork options while beginning to envision how your finished portraits can be enjoyed throughout your home.

Wondering what to wear? What to bring for baby? Preparing siblings for the session? Anything and everything that comes up between your design consultation and portrait session, we’re here to work through together. We’ll answer your questions and take care of the details so you can arrive feeling prepared and excited.

Your only job is to show up and enjoy this time with your family. Whether we’re documenting your growing belly or your newest addition, we’ll guide you throughout the session while keeping things relaxed and comfortable. For newborn and baby sessions, there’s always plenty of time for feeding, changing, soothing, and breaks along the way. We’ll follow your baby’s lead and let the moments unfold naturally.

Approximately one to two weeks after your portrait session, you’ll return to the studio to see your portraits for the first time. Together, we’ll choose your favorite images and design the pieces that best fit your family and home, from custom wall art and framing to heirloom albums and coffee table pieces. We’ll help you bring it all together, creating artwork that preserves this chapter for years to come.

Whether your portraits are hand delivered or thoughtfully packaged, every piece is carefully inspected to ensure it meets our quality standards. Once your portraits are on the wall, tucked into an album, or displayed on your coffee table, all that’s left to do is enjoy them as your little one continues to grow.

We recommend booking your maternity session about 6–8 weeks in advance, with plans to photograph between 30 and 35 weeks. At this point, your bump is beautifully defined, but you’re typically still comfortable enough to enjoy your portrait experience. Booking early also gives us plenty of time to plan your location, clothing, and all the details during your Design Consultation.

We recommend booking your newborn session about 6–8 weeks before your due date. We’ll reserve your due date on our calendar and plan to photograph your baby within the first two weeks after they arrive. Booking before baby is born guarantees your family time on our calendar and saves you the stress of trying to coordinate a portrait session once your little one is here.

Babies have their own schedules, and we plan for that! We’ll put your due date on our calendar and leave some flexibility around it rather than setting your portrait date in stone. Once everyone is healthy and home, just let us know as soon as possible that baby has arrived and we’ll finalize your session date together.

Choose clothing that feels comfortable, coordinates without matching exactly, and keeps the focus on you and your baby. Soft colors, simple patterns, and subtle textures tend to photograph beautifully. For maternity portraits, we’ll help you choose clothing that complements and highlights your growing bump. We’ll discuss clothing during your Design Consultation, so you don’t have to figure it all out on your own!

Bring anything you normally need to keep your baby comfortable, including supplies for feeding, changing, and soothing. You’re also welcome to bring a special outfit, blanket, or meaningful item you’d like to incorporate into your portraits. Some families love including personal touches, while others prefer to keep things simple and use the wraps, blankets, and options we provide. Either is perfectly fine!

That’s completely expected! Newborn sessions include plenty of time for feeding, changing, soothing, and simply giving baby a break when they need one. We’ll work at your baby’s pace and allow plenty of time for them to get comfortable and fall asleep between portraits. There’s no need to worry about staying on a strict schedule.

Yes! We have a selection of backdrops, blankets, wraps, and other options available for your newborn session. We’ll talk through these choices with you ahead of time so we understand the colors, style, and overall look you love before baby arrives. You’re also welcome to bring any special pieces of your own that you’d like us to incorporate.

Absolutely! Every portrait you choose to order will be carefully retouched by Jean herself. We’ll take care of temporary blemishes, redness, and other little distractions while keeping you and your baby looking natural. All of our editing is done in-house to ensure the highest quality and personal attention to every portrait.

Yes! We believe we live in both a digital and tangible world, so you need copies of both. Your purchased portraits include digital copies (printable to 5x7 inches) for sharing and enjoying, but we also believe these photographs deserve to live beyond a screen. We’ll help you create beautiful, heirloom-quality prints, wall art, albums, and other pieces that preserve these early days for your family to enjoy for years to come.
