WHAT TIME OF YEAR IS THE BEST FOR FAMILY PORTRAITS?

Capturing your family is exciting! It’s a special moment to remember forever. You want to make sure you’ve planned your session around what is important to your family. This preparation includes clothing, location, and time of year.

So, when should YOUR family create portraits?

Well, that depends on YOU and what’s meaningful for the story telling of your family. We capture families all year round and everyone has a different connection to each season.

SPRING.

Who isn’t a fan of spring?! The days become longer and the sun is not a stranger. If you love the Pacific Northwest green, spring might be the time for you. We love photographing outdoor portraits during this season because of all of the greenery. It’s also beautiful for flowers including cherry blossoms and tulips!

SUMMER.

Schools out! Scheduling is much easier in the summer when the kids aren’t in school all day. Warm, sunny days offer lots of opportunities to shoot on many locations. We love meeting clients at the beach or the park for portrait sessions. The late summer nights offer that beautiful summer glow lighting in portraits that you can’t resist.

FALL.

If you’re in love with falling leaves and warm sweaters, fall might be the season to capture your family! We love finding the perfect spots with fall foliage and letting kids throw the leaves at mom and dad. Early fall is a great time to take your holiday card photos in order to get them sent out in time. We also love working with all you football fans! Grab the family jerseys and come have a family football game on our home studio lawn!

WINTER.

Winter is a great season for families who live all over the map and come home for the holidays. Sometimes it’s hard to plan family portraits when you aren’t together often. If you love sweaters and snuggling your loved ones, we can have lots of fun at your session. If you love the snow, we’re game! We always are willing to meet families where there is snow and take portraits closer to the mountains.
