TOP REASONS TO DO A FIRST LOOK ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

This is always a big question from our bride and grooms. Should we have a First Look or wait to see each other at the ceremony? We HIGHLY recommend having a First Look. And here’s why…

  1. TIMELINE

A First Look moment before the wedding makes time to focus on your guests after the wedding. This way family photos and the bridal party photos can occur before the wedding and there is more time to capture each and every shot that you want to have with your closest friends and family. This also allows private time for photos of just the two of you before guests are at the venue. Having this moment earlier in the day leaves time for you to have an intimate moment together after the wedding ceremony and before you enter your reception and you will have more time with your guests at the party!

  2. MORE PHOTOS

A First Look gives us time to capture so many more images! We take the hours leading up to the ceremony to photograph you both getting ready, the two of you alone, your bridal party, and your family ALL before you walk down the aisle. The party can begin right after the ceremony since portraits are done and this gives us the best opportunity to photograph your guests, your entrance, and your special moments with all your family and friends. Trust us, it’s worth it.

3. NERVES & TEARS

Many couples struggle with lots of nerves on their wedding day. It makes sense! It’s possibly the biggest day of your life, and not only that, all your closest friends and family are with you watching and it can be overwhelming. Having a first look is a great way to kick some of those nerves with no one else around. Likely, at least one of you might cry and potentially, both. That’s ok because you’ll have time to gather your feelings, relax and even touch up make- up if needed.

4. INTIMACY

Many times, this is the one and only moment you get alone all day. As photographers, we especially work hard to make this moment intimate for you both. We allow the moment to happen organically and we stay “flies on the wall” until you’ve had some time together. Seeing each other at the altar for the first time just adds pressure because you have an audience. With a First Look, you can truly be alone and enjoy the feeling of one of the greatest days you’ll ever experience together.

While our professional opinion as wedding photographers is to have a First Look, we know this decision is not the right one for every couple. We help couples lay out their timelines to best fit their wedding day and we make adjustments where needed. We’d love to help you plan these exciting details and decide if a First Look is the right plan for you and your future spouse!
