LADIES! HOW TO POSE WHEN TAKING IPHONE PHOTOS WITH YOUR FRIENDS

#1. God gave us curves.

Why hide them?! When photographing portraits, we always pose our female clients with what’s called an “S Curve”. In simpler terms, put your weight on one leg and really sit into your hip while keeping your upper body long and tall. This creates a “s” shape with our body that accentuates our curves in a way that thins us to the camera and makes us look tall and feel confident.

#2. Let’s talk about double chins.

We’ve all got ‘em… and if you don’t, trust me. They’ll come with age! Instead of holding your chin upward which really just gives the camera a awkward angle of your neck, try bringing your chin out (like a turtle) and down in line with the camera lens. This lengthens your neck and helps hide any insecurities below the chin.

#3. What do I do with my hands?!

Confidence is key! Try putting a hand partially in a pocket or on a belt loop, link arms with your BFF, or confidently let your arm hang to your side. As long as you’re standing with an “S Curve”, an arm hanging to the side doesn’t lack energy. Instead, it’s less distracting and makes us look at what’s really important in the image - your emotion! Side note: Avoid hands on hips. Many times, this causes us to raise our shoulders and lose our neckline and also can come across as “posed” instead of a natural, candid photo with a friend :)
